Established on December 28, 2014, Tsung Dao (T.D) Lee Library consists of the physical Library and Tsung Dao (T.D) Lee Archives Online (http://tdLee.sjtu.edu.cn/). With a pioneering five-in-one orientation, Tsung Dao (T.D) Lee Library functions at once as a library, an archive, a biographical museum, a science museum, and an art museum. The physical Library has a gross floor area of 5,100 square meters, with one floor underground four floors aboveground. The underground Lecture Hall has a seating capacity of 342, and is suitable for hosting various kinds of academic conferences and small concerts. Under the theme of “From the Language of Heaven, to the Rationale of Matter,” the main exhibition on the first and second floors comprises four sections—Glory, Progress, Contribution, and Superstring. The reading area on the second and third floors has a seating capacity of 270. Other functional areas on the third floor include Book Stacks, Artwork Stacks, Nobel Corner, Science Education Zone, Tsung-Dao Lee's Study, and A Pure Heart (exhibition). The Artwork Stacks store more than one hundred pieces of Science and Art works. Tsung-Dao Lee’s Study is furnished with more than 20 pieces of furniture from Tsung-Dao Lee’s former residence on Wanping Road, Shanghai and Tsung-Dao Lee’s office at China Center of Advanced Science and Technology (CCAST). Over 1,000 books from Tsung-Dao Lee’s personal collection are available on the shelves in the Study. Tsung-Dao Lee's Office, CUSPEA Home, and Special Collections Storage are located on the fourth floor. The Storage contains more than 90,000 invaluable items of Tsung-Dao Lee's generous donation.

The Artwork Stacks stores 100 pieces of Science and Art works with pull-out dense hanging easel.

Book Stacks

The Book Stacks house books on physics, crystallography, astronomy, and other subjects for readers to borrow.
